Word 03 07 Fix

How to set up to run Microsoft Word 2003 and Microsoft Word 2007 on your computer side-by-side.

INSTRUCTIONS

Start Word 03, if it opens slowly and shows a dialog box about installing, then the fix hasn't been done. If it opens quickly, then open Word 07. If Word 07 opens slowly and shows a dialog box about installing, then the fix hasn't been done. The fix needs to be done for each account on the computer. You must be extremely careful when following these instructions since it involves making changes in the registry. The following assumes a limite user account.

1. Log in as administrator

2. Change station (limited user account) login to administrator privileges

3. Log out then log in to the account you want to do the fix on.

4. Go to Start, choose Run

5. Type in: regedit then press Enter

6. Open HKEY CURRENT USER

7. Open SOFTWARE

8. Open Microsoft

9. Open Office 11.0 (11.0 refers to 03, and 12.0 refers to 07)

10. Open Word

11. Open Options

12. On the right frame, right click and choose Create New Dword

13. Give it the name NoReReg

14. Click on it to lock in the name

15. Double click

16. Change the 0 to a 1

17. Go through steps 9 through 16 again, except Open Office 12.0 (which refers to 07)

18. Close out of regedit

19. Demote account from Administrator to Limited

20. Test by opening both Word 03 and Word 07 alternately.
