| July 22, 2006 marked the second Alumni reception hosted by the Concord Campus Chapter of the CSUEB Alumni Association. This event was small yet successful with approximately twenty alumni and local community leaders in attendance.
Although the extremely warm summer temperatures, exceeding 110 degrees, presented a challenge, attendees enjoyed the cool sanctuary of the air conditioned Concord campus room that overlooked the Mount Diablo hills. There they re-connected with fellow Alumni, spoke with local community leaders, and shared ideas about the future of the Concord campus. Many had an opportunity to reminisce with other attendees about their time spent studying at CSUEB while nibbling on tasty treats provided by the Chapter.
The one and a half hour reception lasted well beyond two hours and served as a great prelude to the Concert in the Hills event that same evening. Two of our alumni won the raffle for door prizes generously donated by the University Bookstore, compliments of Sandra Ehrhorn and Margaret Price.
John Hanecak of the Pleasant Hill City Council and Laura Hoffmeister of the Concord City Council attended as alumni of CSUEB representing local community municipalities. The CSUEB University ’s interest in the success of the Concord Campus Chapter was represented by the attendance of Barbara Hirst, Associate Director of Development from the Office of University Advancement and Gil Hyder, Treasurer of the Board of the CSUEB Alumni Association. The evening was complete with Peter Wilson, Dean of the Concord Campus, sharing some highlights on the upcoming developments the community will see at the Concord campus.
All in all, it was a great event on a very hot evening! So, if you were not able to attend this exciting event, please keep checking back as we are in the planning stages of another event for this fiscal year! |
